If you really mean 1988, the answer is no. They had a 488 and 440 fan in those years.

Is it a liquid or fan cooled sled? Twin cylinder or Triple? Polaris made the Trail Indy, which was a 488 fan cooled, the 400 liquid twin, either the 600 or 650 liquid triple. I am not sure which year they went from the 600 to the 650. The 500 liquid twin came out in 1989. Polaris didn't have a 550 until the late 90's when they came out with the 550 fan cooled twin in the Super Sport.

they went to the 650 in 88' im told. its a triple. the guy who gave it to me was riding it when it burnt down. he bought all the pieces and never put it back together. were the 650s good sleds aside from supposedly being gas hogs? do you think it's woth putting back together?

THANKS

I dont think it is worth the efort to put together, unless you enjoy the work. Can buy so many mid 90's sleds for $400-$800 that are a quantum leap better at everything. But hey if you love tinkering, have a great time.

The 650, especially with fuel injection could be costly to restore. If you are looking to restore a sled it is a good one but for an every day rider I'd look for something after 1997.

1997 is pretty much when suspensions doubled market wide.
