Sorry Kenny the Republican party i grew to love no longer resembles the fiscally Conservative party i grew up with and ended with Regan.Until they decide go back i will look for my Candidates in the Libertarian party.You seem to think my one vote matters to the Republican party and it doesnt my one vote wont matter to them but it will matter to the Libertarian party.Keep voting best of the worse and i will just vote the best!

If all disheartened and disillusioned republicans and former republicans, and independents take your view Mike and vote for a party that doesn't have a chance or they don't vote at all, then it will impact the overall election. That attitude will put Obama in the white house.
Personally I am on the same page as you Mike, although I was raised in Massachusetts surrounded by liberal democrats. My leanings are definitely for less government which puts me more on page with the Libertarian party. However my vote is going for McCain/Palin.

I am all for another option as well. However, most progressive thinkers lean to the republican side, therefore voting libertarian takes votes from the republican party - giving the democratic party a lot more clout than they deserve. If the dems make office - it will likely be because of the wasted libertarian votes.
Your idealism is great, but the reality is your hurting yourself if your core beliefs fall with the repubs vs the dems. If you prefer Obama over McCain, then go libertarian. It is the same thing.
If a middle roader ever showed some serious movement, it would be a different story.
