Yamaha SR Viper RTX SE

2014 Yamaha SR Viper RTX SE

This is a case where the total is worth more than the sum of the parts. For 2014, Yamaha combined its high-output 1049cc four-stroke triple (formerly found only in FX Nytro models) and its related clutches with Arctic Cat’s ProCross chassis (called the SRV chassis in Yamaha’s lineup) to create one of the coolest snowmobiles on the snow — the 2014 Yamaha SR Viper RTX SE. The promise of super roomy and modern ergonomics, a quality brake and a notably upgrade in suspension and handling performance had Yamaha customers frothing at the mouth this past spring. But after our testing at Rode Reports, we’re convinced those potential customers will be even more impressed once they get a chance to ride this snowmobile. It’s a really, really good trail sled. The SE model is performance tuned with Fox FLOAT 2 air shocks up front and the Dual Shock SR 129 rear with traditional sprung shocks.
