Team Arctic, Ski-Doo and Yamaha racers will compete in the new International Series of Champions (ISOC) snocross series for the 2008-09 season. Polaris hasn’t formally announced its plans, but the company is also expected to support ISOC.
John Daniels, who ran a cross-country circuit in the 1990s under the same name, leads the new circuit. He promoted the United States Cross-Country $100,000 Triple Crown series the past two seasons.
“ISOC has fresh, innovative ideas for the sport of snowmobile racing that will not only benefit racers, but the fans, [too],” said Team Arctic Race Manager Mike Kloety. Yamaha Snowmobile Race Manager Greg Marier echoed Kloety’s statement. “The new organization has good people already in place and they are working hard to deliver a strong race schedule,” he said.
The eight-race ISOC National snocross series will visit many of the same venues where the defunct World PowerSports Association (WPSA) raced for the past few seasons. ISOC brings television coverage, which WPSA didn’t provide last year. Race fans will be able to catch the race recaps weekly on Daniels’ show “Sledhead 24-7.”
The ISOC series opener is set for Thanksgiving weekend, November 28-30, in Duluth, Minnesota.
