Add another award to the expansive Donahue trophy case. This one comes not from the race track, but for hard work and investment in the sport of snowmobiling.
Hall-Of-Fame-inducted snowmobile racer and 1988 Eagle River World Champion Bobby Donahue was handed the hardware last week for the American Council of Snowmobile Associations’ Dealer Of The Year award at the 44th annual International Snowmobile Congress.
The award comes for the efforts that his family’s Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin-based dealership – Donahue Super Sports – puts into supporting the grass roots level of snowmobiling.
Donahue burst onto the snowmobile racing scene in the 1970s, racing in ovals and cross-country as well as becoming one of the first stars in the emerging sport of snocross.
The dealership dates back even further – Donahue Super Sports actually began life as Bob’s Yamaha City, started by Bob (Sr.) and his wife, Alice. Their sons, Terry, Bobby and Troy, got involved in the business at a young age. It has been a Yamaha dealership since its beginning in 1966, also carried Moto-Ski for awhile and added Ski-Doo in 1983.
Donahue Super Sports has long been a strong supporter of grass roots efforts in snowmobiling and other motorsports, from supporting clubs and associations to being involved in many different levels of racing.

PLEASANT PRAIRIE, WI— Yamaha dealer and Hall of Fame snowmobile racer Bobby Donahue accepted the American Council of Snowmobile Associations’ Dealer of the Year award at the 44th Annual International Snowmobile Congress in Massachusetts on behalf of his family’s dealership, Donahue Super Sports.
This prestigious award recognizes the best snowmobile dealership in the United States for its involvement with local clubs and state association, for its promotion of snowmobiling to both the seasoned sledder and non-snowmobiler and for taking a leadership role in fundraising and special projects.
“At first I was in shock and thought they were messing with me,” said Donahue. “Then as it sank in and I shared the news with our team and our customers, it began to represent something very special to my family as well as our employees and the many, many people who have supported Donahue Super Sports over the years.
“Our parents, Bob and Alice, founded the store over 46 years ago on the premise of friendly service and product knowledge,” he added. “To see that foundation, along with what my brothers—Terry and Troy— and I have added to the business, earning national recognition is something special. This award represents the close relationships our family has developed with the community as well as the snowmobile industry.”
