Eagle River World Championship Front Row Is Set: Here Are Expert Odds On Each Driver

Editor’s Note: We’ll followup up later today with photos and other details on today’s racing, but here is the information from the Snow Goer Tip Sheet, distributed on the Derby Track grounds and containing the odds on each driver who has qualified for the World Championship front row. Check back for more information.

To say the cream has risen to the top for Sunday’s 51st annual World Championship would be a massive understatement.

After three days of racing in varying track and light conditions, truly the 10 fastest drivers have advanced to the big Pro Champ 440 final. The list of finalists is a who’s who of the current generation’s fastest drivers. It includes four former champions – Malcolm Chartier (2013), Nick Van Strydonk (2012), Matt Schulz (2010) and Gary Moyle (2005 and 2007). Each could make an argument that they are en route to another title.

Before you place your bets with your buddies based on the Snow Goer Tip Sheet fictional odds, though, take note that this field also include three members of the ultra-fast and overdue Wahl Bros. Racing team, including last year’s runner up Jordan Wahl and two-time podium finisher Dustin Wahl. Don’t sleep on young Ryan Kniskern, who swept through his heat races and was the only driver not named Chartier or Schulz to break under 36 seconds in time trials. Mix in veterans Cardell Potter, the multi-talented Joey Fjerstad and the third Wahl Bros. member, Brandon Johnson, and you’ve got a great field.

Two more drivers will compete for a back row starting position on Sunday afternoon. Then, at 3 p.m., this field will determine who will be the next driver to have his name inscribed on the Snow Goer Cup. History awaits.

Malcolm Chartier, #33 Ski-Doo from Fair Haven, MI: Defending champ has been fastest all weekend; if he gets out front, it could be over…. 2-1 Odds

Ryan Kniskern, #616 Ski-Doo from Marinette, WI: TLR racer has second fastest sled and could pounce if Chartier slips up… 3-1

Matt Schulz, #38 Ski-Doo from Wausau, WI: 2010 champ has the motor and the experience but must overcome handling gremlins… 4-1

Gary Moyle, #66 Arctic Cat from Houghton, MI: Two time champ getting faster all weekend and has history of building toward final… 4-1

Jordan Wahl, #747 Polaris from Greenbush, MN: Runner up last year, youngest Wahl could be Polaris’ best chance for upset… 5-1

Nick Van Strydonk, #13 Polaris from Tomahawk, WI: 2012 champ is fast once he gets going, but has been fighting lethargic starts… 6-1

Dustin Wahl, #74 Polaris from Greenbush, MN: He is strong and overdue, but his sled doesn’t look as fast as many competitors… 8-1

Brandon Johnson, #22 Polaris from Greenbush, MN: Like teammate Dustin, he has experience but Wahl team must find speed overnight… 8-1

Cardell Potter, #58 Ski-Doo from Camp Douglas, WI: Now a veteran racer, he’s due for a podium finish but this is a tough field… 9-1

Joey Fjerstad, #16 Polaris from Minneapolis, MN: In a normal year, fast Fjerstad would be a top 5 pick, but not in this deep final… 10-1
