Ski-Doo MX Z 800R E-TEC released

Ski-Doo announced today the new Rotax 800R engine with E-TEC direct injection. The engine technology debuted in snowmobiles on some 2009 Ski-Doo sleds.
“This is a no-compromise engine. Not only does it generate more power, but it sets new benchmarks for fuel and oil economy,” said Bob Lumley, vice president of sales and marketing at Ski-Doo. “… the new E-TEC 800R engine is up to 37 percent better than our competitors in fuel economy.”

Ski-Doo claims 19 miles per gallon (202-mile range), 264 miles to a quart of oil, first-pull starts every time and virtually no smoke or smell from the engine.
The MX Z 600 H.O. E-TEC won Snow Goer‘s 2009 Snowmobile of the Year award for its innovative fuel system. We enjoyed improved mileage and excellent performance from our MX Z TNT E-TEC demo last winter.

The 800R E-TEC powerplant is available in a limited number of black MX Z X sleds. Other than the engine, the sled is the same as the carbureted 2010 MX Z 800R X. A demo tour of the new sled will travel the Snowbelt this winter, including a handful of Summit models as demonstrators. Check out Ski-Doo’s website for a schedule.

MX Z 800R E-TEC X sleds are scheduled to ship from the Valcourt, Quebec, factory next week. Retail price is $12,099.
