The Snow Blast: The Greatest Show On Snow

The event, which took place on March 10-12, was tweaked for 2006. A new sponsor, World PowerSports Association (WPSA), took over, the name morphed into Snow Blast and the new slogan became the Greatest Show On Snow.

Those who came, though, seemed oblivious to the subtle changes. It still was a Spring Break party atmosphere, the way snowmobilers would design it. Throughout the weekend, there were country music acts (Blake Shelton and Jo Dee Messina), fireworks and demo rides on Arctic Cats’ 2007 fleet. WPSA held a Snocross National points race on Friday and Saturday.

Arctic Cat had the largest factory presence both on and off the racetrack. The factory had drivers — and brothers — Kurtis and Shaun Crapo win, respectively, the Pro Stock and Pro Open feature races.

On the demo track, snowmobilers lined up to test the new 2007 F-Series machines. According to Arctic Cat’s Kale Wainer, more than 1,200 waiver forms were signed for demo rides and the company’s test fleet racked up more than 80,000 miles.
