One of the greatest things about snowmobiling is being able to go over the next hill to see and explore what’s on the other side. And then to push on to see what’s on the other side of the next hill, and on the other side of the one after that one. There’s always a new horizon, always new trails to enjoy, new attractions to see, new people to meet, new cuisine to sample, new experiences to enjoy and always plenty of great memories later on.
Exploration has always been an important part of our sport, starting way back in 1960 when Edgar Hetteen and his small group rode their iron dogs on an incredible 1,100 mile adventure across Alaska. That spirit of exploration is at the heart of why we at Snow Goer magazine continue to present articles about interesting and different places to ride from coast to coast on both sides of the border. Snowmobiling really is different as you travel up and down and across the snow belt from one end of North America to the other.
Since Snow Goer’s first issue more than 40 years ago, our staff has traversed the continent searching out the best places for serious snowmobilers to enjoy the sport we all love.
Now our 31st annual Snowmobile Vacation Guide presents some of the best of the winter riding and vacationing opportunities that we’ve found and enjoyed over the years. Inside is information on areas to ride, sights to see, events to attend, places to stay and eat, dealerships for equipment support and other services that can help you plan and enjoy your best winter vacation ever.
The great trails, the fabulous scenery and the outstanding leisure experiences are out there waiting for the snowmobilers who are brave enough to venture out of their home territory and explore the great North American Snowbelt. So if you have never done a serious snowmobile vacation, make this the year that you break away from the dull monotony of the same old, same old, and create your own adventure in exploration. And don’t forget to take your camera or camcorder to capture what you find. They’ll help you relive that great adventure long into the future.
